I always want to remember
how beautiful the flowers were
the first time we kissed.

I always want to remember
how warm our bodies were
every time we made love.

And I want to never forget
how the rain fell
that last time we danced.

I will always love you
but I had let you go
so you could return to me.

Author's Comments

I started writing this poem the same day I wrote "Our Rain" but I didn't finish it 'til recently. I suppose at most I am at liberty to say is that...as much as I want to protect the person I love, the decisions and choices - the lessons that must be learned -, must be done alone...but I will be here.

I have just accepted that the trial is a place that I cannot be to coddle and hold; but I promise I am strong enough now to bear it. Whatever may come in my future with this person, I am ready to face it again with my own lessons learned, and a better person because of it.

I did not abandon and...I trust you.

Hehe, thank you so much. I really wanted to communicate something soft, but something meaningful as well. Love has many, many facets and sometimes we all need to step back from the ardent passion as well as the drama and simply recognize the softness - tenderness - and say, "This...is how I feel for you."
