New Project

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 13, 2009, 7:59 PM
The more the light shines through me
I pretend to close my eyes
The more the dark consumes me
I pretend I'm burning, burning bright
~ "Burning Bright" - Shinedown

So...I'm not dead or anything. >>;

See, thing is, soon after I posted my last journal entry, I got involved in a new world of magic and wonder. :iconmoophles: and I kind of ended up getting into a new comic project that has been coming very easily to the both of us. So yeah.

I cannot tell you anything. I can't even give you a tag line.

Hell, it's so effing secret I am not even at liberty to give a name - which, a lot of you may know, is rare. Normally, I love to share!

But not now. Kit and I are keeping this all under wraps. A select few know. The only people who know everything that's going on at the moment are Kit and myself. I'll let you guys know, as will my beloved Kit on her dA page.

For now, if we continue at the clip we are, we should have pretties soon enough. Though, I wouldn't expect a comic debut until after the new year >>;

^^; We want to get at least 30-50 pages ahead so updating schedule will be easier for both of us. I mean, we've got tons of fodder already done (we are so far ahead, we probably have at least a year's worth of updates set aside  )

Still, I'm kind of behind on scripting the sessions out as well as the fact I HAVE BEEN SICK ALL WEEK AND IT BLOWS. >.<

I should be back to normal. Right now, I'm not going to worry about the stuff I need to do for this week. I'm going to focus on the project and leave that quote at the top as a HUUUGE hint/teaser for one of the main characters.

So enjoy reveling in the secret. You can ask me about it, you can ask Kit about it, but I doubt you'll get much more than a "enjoy the wonders."

XD

Projected updates

Tue Oct 6, 2009, 12:09 PM
Okay, because I need to distract my mind from things - especially this throbbing migraine - I'll make a quickie list of things to look forward to seeing update within the next two weeks:

Sweet Harmony Chapter 7: Nocturne. Btw, in case no one has noticed, the titles of all the chapters are related to music/music terms. If you look them up, you get a hint for the chapter, but very roughly :3
Progress: 8%

The 100 Themes list using Harts Bay: probably the tail end of this week/sometime next week. Depends on where my motivation is. I was going to do Vital Signs per suggestion, but so far, nothing really spectacular has come through. I'll let ya know when I'm starting.
Progress: None - lol, what progress?

The Shattered Path - the joint comic project between me and my sweetie :iconfactionfighter: that keeps getting postponed due to life sucking major. In regards to this, expect a couple of updates in the form of moi and prose (because let's face it, I'm not a real artist anymore. 6-7 years ago, yes; now, no).

---TSP topics to be covered:
------Vyana & Char's past: possibly childhood/adolescence depending where I start
------Char & Kyrae's wedding: because that last thing I posted and looking at sweetie's work probably made you confused. "What?! I thought Char & Vy went together!" They do, so I'll go into the why. Sure, this will be spoilerriffic but eh. I don't think Adam minds and they've been calling out to me.
------Xeon-centric: "Xeon Alone" - this is a short that I've had tossed around in my mind the past few days. There is a time in TSP where Xeon goes on his own (actually after the wedding) that I wanted to touch on, especially since this plays into a better understanding of Xe as well as some seriousness to the playful pantythief; there is more to him than people realize and far more than he lets on.
-------Arlaena-based: "My Father's Light" - little Arlaena asking her mother about her father and why they can't be with him. Could also be called "Vyana's Torment"
-------Char & Vy: adult-central and possibly...lemony...ish. But not pr0n. Tentative name: "Night of Truth" or "We Are Not Sunstriders" (Sunstrider means, pretty obviously, in Thalassian "he/she who walks the day"; and yes, I will probably start creating my own phrases soon enough, even if it something never heard of, I love me some foreign language, mmhm).
-------Char & Ky: (in case you're wondering, Kyrae's name comes from the chant in Christian churches called a 'Kyrie' [key-ree-aa] so her name is pronounce 'Key-ray';) Anyway, probably about the two powerful Light wielders who love each other...but are not IN love with each. For the sake of their people, they attempt to unite but find their hearts are lost to the other's sibling. Tentative title: "Fade"

Full Metal Jumpstart: will get some face time shortly.
-------Angel-centric: "Redux" will cover why Angel decided to go back to high school and is okay with being called the local loser. Note: Angel is smarter than pretty much anyone...ever. Like, MENSA high IQ. She plays Chess with Stephen Hawking and wins.
-------Leon-centric: "Roar" - about his dealings with his mentor Sparrow and his rival Zeve.
--------Angel & Leon: "Last Dance" - one moment of high school bliss
--------Sparrow's past: "Engineered"
--------Angel & Leon: "What I Remember" about comparing memories and what we realize we have lost.

Betrothal Royale
-------Cad-centric: "Concede" ---"I've had enough. I concede."

(You will see; this one I thought of by myself and Adam is lead artist, as always on it, but while TSP originally started as Char & 2 other, now very minor, characters, that Adam developed and I jumped in, BR started by me not feeling well one evening and this popping out of my mouth).

*note: the coming of the expansion, Cataclysm, has some impact on the story Ads and I have been working on for rougly 2 years now, but not a ton. A lot of stuff? I already guessed so we were prepared. Hence why Arthas IS my bitch, mmmhm.
**Uh, probably won't update ALL that these coming weeks. Eheh^^;
***Yes, Avatar: The Last Airbender episode "Zuko Alone" inspired Xeon's work title, okay? You caught me.
****Yes, there are some newer things, yes some are spoiles, so shoot me if you want. :duck:

& to Kit - I'm sorry I snapped at you. Please forgive me.

Lots o' Things

Mon Sep 28, 2009, 10:45 AM
Hey all. A lot of interesting things have gone on in my life lately. Partly are friend troubles. Others stem from a mite bit of writing block. Otherwise, I'm just trying not to drown in homework, haha. Sometimes I want to back away from the increasing-doucheyness of people I know but eh. Not much I can do at present.

As for everything else, I just got a new job. Still haven't been assigned a location yet, but eh. $15/hr when I do start! Yesssss.

I called my honey's family and talked to his brother Andrew ( ~Itachiyasha ) and their mother for a while. It was kind of nice, honestly. I found out a lot of things I'm running the gambit on. Things that confuse me, things that hurt me, and possible options for things. Also major props to Antheny ( ~Aesir-Edge ) and Kit ( ~Moophles )

But overall, I'm okay. Feeling tired right now, but Last of the Mohicans and I don't get along well, and this weekend just escaped me way to easy to get ahead on things. So meh.

Should be doing my PowerPoint but mmm...in a bit.

Anyway, back to chillin'.

Your name?
Stasia

If possible, your age?
22

When did you start writing?
I started my first little kid pieces since I was old enough to draw on the walls. So probably about 5. But I really got into it around age 13 when I’d write for six to eight hours a day.

Do you write by hand or use a word processing program? If so, which hand/which program?
I sometimes write by hand, but my hand can’t keep up with my head. ^^; I write by hand my little bullets/ideas. I am a righty and I type my stories on Microsoft Word 2007/Open Office (if I got to).

Which perspective is easier to write: Male, female, or other?
Eh. Depends on the day. I’m actually pretty comfortable with both. Sometimes either one can be more challenging than the other.

Which is easier to write - basically good or basically evil characters?
Complex characters. I write more good characters, generally, but I’ve written my share of baddies. I never make truly evil characters because there usually is an explanation or something behind it…well, there is one…

Is it easier to write first person, second person, third person limited, or third person omnipresent?
Depends. I am not a big fan of writing in first person – for stories anyway. Second is fun for a challenge. But I tend to write in third person limited; omnipresent for comedy, though.

What do you have trouble writing?
Oh, probably set-ups for big explanation scenes. I tend to go, “Oh, God, that’s so lame!” or something to that affect. I’m my own worse critique. Creating magical atmospheres that aren’t /lame is hard at times too; because sometimes the idea doesn’t want to come in a timely manner.

What do you like to write?
Fantasy, though it’s a hard thing, hehe. Romance, horror, thrillers, reflective pieces, I suppose.

How do you often begin your writing?
Depends how the idea strikes me. Could be with action, description, or character popping in. Really does depend.

What is your writing habit that you are aware of?
Oh, I tend to beat myself up a fair bit. I try not to procrastinate but I do tend to write best when up late and no one is bothering me.

Any tips?
Enjoy what you write and write what you love. Practice, practice, practice. Screw people who act like belligerent assholes. Do take critique. Don’t whine like a sissy if they’re right. Ignore morons. Keep sight of both yourself and your audience. Try not to be vain. Look at other people’s styles; see what you like and give it a whirl for yourself. Don’t think you’re God or a god.

How long does it take to finish a piece?
Depends on the piece. Sometimes a matter of a few hours, fifteen minutes, or months/years.

What music do you listen to while you write?
Depends. Some days I need rock in my ears, or I prefer a lot of symphonic types. Sometimes I want Asian and some days I want jazz & the blues. Other times I turn off the lights and listen to my own silence ‘til my brain wants to help me out.

How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
It really depends. Inspiration is key; usually I can whip something up in a matter of a few seconds. Be warned, however – I can and usually do change my mind and angst over it like a little bitch until I’m happy. Because I’m a perfectionist that way. :P

Your favorite genre(s) when writing?
Romance, fantasy (because a GOOD fantasy is challenging), daily life (but not essays), action, horror; suspense is fun too :D oh! And humor :P Anyone who knows me knows this, hehe. I have a wicked wit at times.

Your favorite genre(s) when reading?
Probably a GOOD fantasy – it’s hard to find something that isn’t so poorly written or so contrived that it sounds like absolute shit. Or it takes away the ‘free will’ of the characters, making it boring and starched. I do enjoy a good mystery/whodunits

Your favorite writers)?
Octavia E. Butler, Gail Carson Levine…um…Dante….Chuck Palanthuk. I’m rather picky and choose usually based on book rather than writer. ^^;

What kind of writing are you aiming for?
The best I can put down. Something exciting, yet mysterious. Thoughtful yet compelling. Enjoyable yet challenging. Romantic but full of action. Fantasy but real. I love things that are complex and I want something rich and enjoyable. And I love to sprinkle in humor, even darkly.
